Kiss To Remember

*A SHORT STORY*

As she scribbled her diary, smelling it and whirling the pages over and over again, she got chills down her spine. His memoirs were enough to bring a smile on her visage. She held her diary close to her upper body. “Happy 1 year of togetherness to you Ayaan” she thought in her mind.

“Shit! I’m already late” Ellie spoke while watching the wall clock of her room.

She immediately got up from her bed, freshened up and searched her wardrobe for a dress. After a lot of searching, she at last found this beautiful red attire. She was hell excited for the celebration, celebration of their love and togetherness.

She wore the dress that was revealing her beautiful glossy bared legs. She sprayed some cologne on her, lined her eyes with kohl, put some gloss, and tied her hair in one pony. And there she was ready, standing in front of the mirror; she couldn’t believe in her eyes how amazing she looks. She thought how his love for her changed her so much.

She took her mobile from her study table and messaged him-
Hey. I am ready waiting for you. Come soon.

She immediately received
a text from him.
Coming baby, I will pick you up.

Smile spread her lips while she watched his message again and again. Suddenly she heard the sound of horn of a car. She peeked through her lanai and found that it was him. She told him to wait. For the last time she checked herself from tip to toe and accompanied her appearance with a pair of stilettos. She got out of the apartment building and stood at the gate. He was clinging onto his car’s door, listening to the music which was being played in his car. She stood at the same place for a jiffy when she spoke out. “Hey.”

He looked up and when detected her, his jaws dropped. He sauntered toward her slowly and stood in front of her. Their eyes met. He was completely in her. Finally he spoke out- “Am I dreaming or is it all real?”

“What?” she asked him and frowned at him sweetly.

“I mean, you look so different” he said.
“Different? Do I look like a Zombie?” she gave a suspicious look at him.

“Lol. No. Different in a good way. Tell me, have you planned someone to kill tonight?” he winked at her and gave his signature smirk.

She chuckled and said “Seems like you are very much interested to be killed tonight.”

“Oh yeah. If only the murderer is you. See, who gets this type of chance to be killed by such a hot lady. So it’s my privilege you know” he said while running his hands through her neckline.

“Stop it Ayaan” she said and blushed. Her cheeks got red and then redder.

“Well, you know what!” he got closer to her. Her heartbeat raced.

“What?” she asked softly.

“You look beautiful when you let your hair open” he said as he untied her hair gently, letting them fall on her shoulder. She looked like an angel. Her kohl lined eyes were enough to mesmerize him. He looked into her eyes deeply, searching the beauty that lies within it.

“Ayaan? Shall we proceed? Let’s not just waste our time here.”

“Oh sure. I almost forgot everything.” She followed him to his car and took the seat beside him.
When he started the ignition of his car, Ellie asked him that where were they going?

“Umm, I don’t know.” He said.

“Then what we are going to do?” she asked him innocently.

“Okay. Let’s do one thing. What about a long drive?” he professed his idea to Ellie.

She got exhilarated while hearing his idea. “What a great plan. Never knew that you are that smart. Haha” she giggled.

“Excuse me? What did you just now say? Let me tell you, I have been always this smart. It’s you who took it so long to notice my smartness.” Ayaan said proudly.

“Oh? Is that so Mr.?” she questioned him back.

“Of course. You forgot? In college days, girls would die because of my attitude. My attitude killed every girl except you. Gosh, I had to go through so many hurdles just to impress you.”

“How would I know that you were behind me in those days?” Ellie asked him as she swung her hand through her cashmere hair.

“Still. I mean every girl gets the hint that who are busy in impressing them.” Ayaan answered her question instantly.

They were now almost heading outside the city. Ayaan drove his car at full speed. The highway was almost clear with fewer vehicles.

“Well in that case, you should’ve known that I’m different form them” she replied while opening the window glass of the car and letting the cool breeze kiss her physiognomy. Her locks gusted in air. Ayaan observed her angelic smile, how happy she was, how happy he was to have her in his life. He was continuously watching her. He wished for getting lost into her. Her perfectly shaped eyes were enough to hypnotize him.

Ellie caught him that he was constantly staring at her. “You should concentrate on your driving rather than on me” she precisely said him.

“Oops. Sorry.” He beamed looking at the road.

The sky was now completely shrouded with clouds. It seemed like it was going to rain. Soon the shower started. The sky flashed and roared. They headed far away from the hustle city. Seeing the downpour, Ellie got really elated. She let the drizzle touch her countenance.

Out of the blue, she started asking Ayaan to halt the car. “Ayaan, please stop the car.”

“Why? What happened?” Ayaan asked with a confused expression.

“And please, close the glass. You’ll get cold dear.” He clasped her hand while she was so busy in enjoying the downpour.

“You know what Ayaan, you ask so many questions. Will you stop the car now?” She questioned him with her hands joined together as if she was pleading him to do so. “And moreover, it’s my order.” She said while pointing her index finger at him.

“Okay okay.” He replied by swaying his hands in the air. He halted the car at the roadside.

“Now will you tell me what happened suddenly”?

“Nothing. It’s just that I want to enjoy this weather.” She told him as her eyes sparkled.

Ayaan looked at Ellie with a stern look in his eyes. And before he could utter a word, Ellie got out of the car and went to the landward side of the road. She was getting drenched in the rainfall. And she enjoyed it.

“What the fish Ellie? What the hell are you doing?” Ayaan bellowed at her still seating in the car’s driver seat.

“I’m not gonna listen to you this time” she ignored him and sniggered. “In fact this time, you have to listen to me.” She smiled ear to ear.

“Means?” he replied and lifted his left eyebrow.
She reached at the car and grabbed his hand. “You have to dance with me.”

“No way. I am not going get soaked in any way.” He answered instantly.

“Okay. As you wish.” Ellie made a puppy face. She left Ayaan and yet again got back to her favorite job. DANCING IN THE RAIN. She was jumping, dancing and singing. She was getting the pleasure of such atmosphere. And there Ayaan was endlessly glaring at her childish attitude which he had never seen before. And her innocence again made him fall in love with her deeply. At last he made a step to get out of the car. He was resting his back on the car’s door as the shower made him completely drenched too. Ayaan was totally mesmerized by seeing the sight of Ellie.

This girl is crazy. He thought in his mind.

That night, Ayaan looked attractive as usual. His one smile was his weapon to flatter any girl. But unlike any other lass, Ellie was special in her own way. Her innocence, cuteness and childish behavior made him to fall in love with her. When in college, he would get nervous while talking to her. All of a sudden he came back from is thoughts. By the time, it drizzled heavily. He saw the mere sight of his love. She was totally lost in her own world. She was all damped which appealed him even more. He made his steps towards her without clattering any noise and held her from behind.

“Ayaan?” She whispered.

“Woah. You look hotter in this” he said with a shine, still holding her by her waist.

“Stop fantasizing about me. You despo!” she said shyly.

Ayaan seemed more attuned to her appearance.
He held her even closer to him. She looked into his eyes and spoke
“Are you in your senses? Few moments ago you were stopping me. Now just look at you.”

“Ellie, listen to me.” He said as he pulled her face nearer to him. Ellie knew where it was heading to. Her first kiss. She had always thought of her first kiss and she knew it was the perfect time. They felt cold because of the shower but their insides were heating up.

“What Ayaan?” it was the only thing she could utter. Ayaan finally kissed her. That was the time when Ellie went weak on her knees. Chills ran down her spine. She clutched him tightly from his back for some support. She adored the serene situation. She indulged herself into the blissful moment. And this time, Ayaan tasted her lips even more passionately. It felt like an elixir to him. He tasted once more and it felt bittersweet. He had received a euphoric feeling from his love. Finally they broke the kiss. Ayaan’s hand reached for his pant’s pocket and took out something from there. It was a box beautifully wrapped up. He opened the box and held the necklace in his hand which he had secretly bought for her one fine day when they had gone for shopping.

“When did you buy this?” she asked him with great exhilaration.

“You don’t need to know that.” As he spoke, he knelt down on his knees and started narrating the lines he had been rehearsing since so many days.

“So Miss.Ellie, I know the situation is little awkward and professing something in rain doesn’t make any sense. So let’s come to the point. Will you spend rest of the life with me?” he spoke his words and professed his feelings again. His desire to marry her, desire to love her forever and ever. And their Ellie froze before him as a tear trickled down through a corner of her eyes. She was pleased, elated and endeared the moment. She wished if she could stop the moment right there.

“Ayaan, please take me into your arms” she said in a low volume.
He wore a smile on his facade and spread his arms and engulfed her into him. They both savored the moment with peace and serenity. They both ended up kissing and they couldn’t describe the feeling of contentment that was with them that time. She was encased in his arms and it was a KISS TO REMEMBER. Forever. Indeed.
